two cheeses to remain nameless

Nothing mysterious here, but the first was bought from the market in La Roche Posay and may not have had a name and the second hqd an extraordinqrily long name that I forgot the second I left the shop!

Anyway; The one from the market was a delicious hard sheeps cheese sold direct from the producer who was a charming and persuasive saleswoman. It was only by my insistance that we were on a bike that I was able to get away with buying half a truckle. It was delicious pale and mild yet extraordinarily tasty. Quite firm but with little holes reminiscent of the hard cheeses we used to make at Canon Frome Court. mmmmmmmmm.

Now the other cheese with a very long name came from a charcuterie in Bellac. It was a flat spft cheese of the sort one should not travel with on public transport - that is to say it had a pong worthy of a ripe french cheese. It had a thick yellow crust of a skin, Which I was enthusiastic about earing til I tasted it and a delicious soft (ok a bit runny) yellow centre. I thought it was fantastic, though I think Malc needed a little convincing. Anyway we thought it safest to consume in one sitting. It wasn't getting a place in our tightly packed panniers for a day of riding in the sunshine anyway.
