Seventh leg: Morocco

We arrived in Tangier a few hours ago, and are taking the opportunity to do a little update of the website before plunging boldly into the heart of the medina.

We took the decision some time ago that Bramble our trusty steed would not be coming with us. The reasons for this were a feeling that having the bike would be a very good way of attracting lots of hassle, and that it would limit our travels in Morocco too much in the relatively short amount of time we plan to be here (three weeks). But I have to admit, the thought of not having to cycle on roads shared with hoardes of starving hungry and bad tempered Moroccan truck drivers played a part as well. Being Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, until at least 24 October, no one is eating anything until the evening (which out of interest is defined as being the time at which it is so dark it is no longer possible to distinguish between a black thread and a white thread). We are both consequently rather hungry as well since nowhere is selling any food.

Entering the port of Tangier was no where near as hassle filled as the guide book would lead one to believe. We found a place to stay without difficulty. The current plan is to take the overnight sleeper train to Marrakech tomorrow evening....

Hi folksI cannot believe

Hi folks
I cannot believe you are still cycling. What is wrong with you people?
Sorry, just joking. I am glad you are enjoying and just keep going. But, do not forget, Xmas is in December.
Anyway, I am sure that the weather in Morooco is not as miserable as here in North East of England. Thanks for your card although I could not understand half of Ali's writting.
Lots of love
Josip

Hi Josip good to hear from you.
we have finally stopped cycling for the time being and have a train booked for our onward journey, while the bike is packed up waiting to be shipped home.
mmm, bad handwriting is even worse than bad typing, sorry about that.
we will be home at the end of november so watch out!
Ali

Well, in that case, I will be waiting for you to appear in North East of England sometimes in December.
